T2- and T2*-weighted High-resolution Fmri at 7t Using Non-balanced Ssfp

چکیده
Introduction Non-balanced Steady-state free precession (nb-SSFP) has been proposed as an alternative sequence for T2-weighted BOLD fMRI at high field strength [1]. nb-SSFP is attractive because of low rf power deposition and low image distortion, and the possibility of acquiring the T2-weighted S2 signal together with the T2*-weighted S1 signal resembling SE and GE signal characteristics respectively. Our aim was to compare the signal characteristics at the pial surface and within grey matter for both functional contrasts using multi-echo SSFP at high spatial resolution.

T2-weighted BOLD fMRI at 9.4 T using a S2-SSFP-EPI sequence
Introduction: It has been hypothesized that T2-weighted BOLD fMRI at ultra-high field shows higher spatial specificity than T2*weighted BOLD, since the main signal contribution is expected to come from the extravascular spins of the microvasculature [1-3]. Unfortunately, the number of slices that can be acquired in multi-slice SE-EPI is often highly limited at ultra-high field due to SAR constr...
متن کاملAnalysis of the BOLD Signal Characteristics in balanced SSFP fMRI: a Monte-Carlo Simulation
Introduction Recently, balanced SSFP (Steady State Free Precession) has been proposed as an alternative method to measure the BOLD contrast [1-3]. Two different contrast mechanisms have been explored experimentally: (1) transition-band SSFP fMRI (BOSS fMRI) that detects the BOLD induced frequency shift near the transition part of the SSFP profile [1,2], and (2) pass-band SSFP fMRI that is belie...
متن کاملHighly accelerated real-time T2-weighted imaging with through-time radial GRAPPA and low-latency GPU reconstruction
Background T2-weighted cardiac images are commonly used for edema detection [1-4]. However, neither black-blood TSE nor cine images can offer real-time edema monitoring, and are therefore not suitable for the guidance of cardiac ablation procedures. We proposed a radial T2weighted interrupted balanced SSFP (rT2W-iSSFP), a real-time high temporal resolution sequence targeted at monitoring edema.
متن کاملFirst clinical study on ultra-high-field MR imaging in patients with multiple sclerosis: comparison of 1.5T and 7T.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Higher magnetic field strengths and continuous improvement of high-resolution imaging in multiple sclerosis (MS) are expected to provide unique in-vivo and non-invasive insights in pathogenesis and clinical monitoring. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential of high-resolution imaging of MS lesions in vivo comparing 7T with conventional 1.5T. MATERIAL...
متن کاملCharacterization of passband SSFP FMRI: A comparison with GRE at multiple field strengths
INTRODUCTION. Balanced steady-state free precession (SSFP) has recently been proposed for functional MRI (FMRI) [1-3]. The goal is to obtain functional contrast that does not rely on long-TE GRE, and is therefore relatively immune to the B0 artefacts found in GRE BOLD. Two general classes of methods have been explored: transition-band SSFP attempts to detect the deoxyhaemoglobin frequency shift...
